Hunts Kart Racing Club – Freddie Slater

Freddie got off to a flying start in 2017 at the Kimbolton kart circuit in Cambridgeshire. With snow forecast the weekend delivered tricky conditions. Saturdays practice started icy and Freddie went out the blocks as quick as ever. Posting fastest laps in the wet conditions his intentions were clear for the Sunday wet race. Against the older more experienced Fusion team mates Freddie wanted to demonstrate although he is young he wanted be at the sharp end of the race.

The first heat all went Freddie’s way when he broke away with his team mate Taylor Barnard at the front. Finding an extra gear Freddie was able pull away and take the heat victory. Confidence high Freddie put in a strong performance to finish 4th from 11th in heat two. Starting P2 in the final was always going to be hard at this circuit however Freddie managed it well and came out in 4th at the first corner. He then charged for the lead posting purple sector times on his way. With impeccable defensive driving he couldn’t get past Barnard but crossed the line in 2nd place. Freddie and his team were ecstatic with the result from such a young talent. A great start to the 2017 season .
