LGM Hunts Kart Racing Club – Freddie Slater

Needing a strong finish to progress in the championship, Freddie didn’t fail to deliver at the 3rd round of the Little Green Man Series. Coming back from holiday fully charged Freddie was straight to business in Saturday practice. Posting fastest laps all day the team were happy with the pace to continue into race day Sunday.

The heats started well and Freddie was strong progressive starts and raw speed turned two 11th grid starts into two 2nd places behind championship leader Taylor Barnard. Heat three didn’t quite go so smooth as Freddie got caught up in a collision on the rolling lap which dropped his nose cone, and thereafter incident on lap 4 which in combination ended in a 27th place finish. Despite the disaster in heat 3 the final grid spot was 9th and with Freddie pace, being the fastest kart on the track all day, he was sure to be able to cause an upset from there.

With confidence sky high and the perfect kart to proceed to the front Freddie started the longĀ 15 minute final. With his row not starting well and a jump start from the outside lane Freddie got knocked back a few spots on the initial start. However this didn’t last long as Freddie pushed his way to the front with precision overtaking manoeuvrers and repetitive fastest sectors. Working with fellow youngster Oliver Denny Freddie took 4th position his best LGM result so far this year and valuable points for the championship.
