Little Green Man at Glan Y Gors Park – Freddie Slater

Freddie and his team travelled to North Wales for Round 6 of the Little Green Man race series. The previous week Freddie had completed a practice day at the Glan-Y-Gors circuit which included both wet and dry conditions. Although rain threatened persistently all weekend both the practice and race day managed to get away with dry conditions. A very rare occurrence for the Welsh Valleys.

Freddie worked hard on practice day to test all the race engines ready for Sunday. With great speed all day the team chose the most suitable set up for Freddie to attack in the Sunday races. In normal LGM fashion the race structure was 3 heats and a main final over 15 minutes.

Heat 1 was perhaps the best race of the day, seeing Freddie and his two main rivals battled at the front for 2nd place. Freddie drove a strong last lap to finish in 3rd place over the line. Heat 2 was also very progressive for Freddie as he climbed 13 places, however the team were not happy with the speed so made changes for the 3rd heat race. In combination with the changes and Freddie’s clever race craft he took the victory by over a second!

With great qualifying heats Freddie started on the front row for the final. Starting on the outside proved detrimental as Freddie was pushed wide at the first corner. Falling back to 9th Freddie knew he could recover but then on lap two a driver behind crashed into him, pushing him further back to 15th. In true Slater style Freddie didn’t give up and started to climb his was back up the order. Posting fastest laps in the middle of the race Freddie managed to get back to 6th place over the line saving valuable points.

Going into the last race as the championship leader Freddie and the team are preparing hard to finish the championship number One!
