Forest Edge – Little Green Man – Freddie Slater

Travelling south to the Forest Edge circuit in Winchester, Freddie took part in Round 4 of the Little Green Man Championship. Saturday practice gave 7 sessions in the high temperature of the British summer; enabling the team to test multiple set ups by the end of the day, Freddie and the team were happy with the package they had.

Heat 1 Freddie started 3rd and a tough start pushed him down the grid, however in true grit fashion he worked his way back to the front, as the opposition tussled for positions behind, Freddie took the victory by a big margin. In the second mid grid race Freddie started 12th and worked his way up to 4th position. Asking more from the kart, changes were made for the 3rd heat which saw Freddie climb an impressive 20 places from the back of the grid to finish 6th posting purple middle sectors.

The final was a long 15 minute race as everyone prepared to stay as cool as possible in the blistering heat. Freddie worked his way to the front by catching the leader. Strong in the lead Freddie opened a gap for a few laps and it looked as if he would break away.

However it was difficult with karts working together behind Freddie got caught and overtaken by a train of karts. It wasn’t over yet, as Freddie worked hard to pick his way back through the pack and in a last lap battle with the lead pack ended 4th. A strong points haul for Freddie after a tough race. He moves on to race with his younger brother Alfie next week in the PFI club race in Grantham.
