Winter Series: PFI Grantham – Freddie Slater

The final round of the winter series was a wet one at the PFI circuit in Grantham. Against 50 competitors Freddie was once again at the sharp end in Saturday testing and qualifying. Posting purple sectors Freddie was on for pole in group until traffic fell wrong in front of him and disrupted his best lap. However 4th in group was a good result and gave him 5th starting position for the heats on Sunday.

With rain on its way the first heat was on slicks. The start went against Freddie with his lane not going at the start. This put him back to 10th and in a battle with a lot of inexperienced drivers. Getting knocked back he didn’t give up and got himself back to 8th position. The second heat was wet and Freddie had a good start slotting into 4th position. With a red flag stoppage the race was finished prematurely and Freddie inherited 5th position as the result was called.

The rain continued into the afternoon. Lining up 9th on the grid Freddie was eager to make an impact in the conditions he loved at the PFI circuit. Another tough start put Freddie back however he was quick to recover and posted the fastest lap of the race. Crossing the line in 8th Freddie was happy to be fastest but wanted a podium result. However tough starts against the best drivers in the country had made an impact on the weekends results. Freddie now travels to Rowrah in Cumbria to prepare for the first round of the British Championship.
