PFI Club – Freddie Slater

Not racing at the well known PFI circuit in Grantham since the last championship round of the year, Freddie was pushing for a strong performance. Practice was difficult on Saturday as Freddie got back in the seat after his time on holiday. Despite this, Freddie ended the day strong posting the fastest lap time in the final session by 3 tenths!

Qualifying Sunday morning was cut short due to an accident so it was ran over 4 minutes. Controlling the pace at the front Freddie drove an amazing lap in his own air to post a time only 1 tenth off pole. With strong pace in heat 1, Freddie found himself in the lead pack of three in the closing stages of the race. Contact was made and Freddie was pushed off the track loosing a lot of ground. Heat 2 gave similar events and misfortune in the race became detrimental to Freddie’s final result. Despite the set backs, Freddie would start on grid 12 for the grand final; knowing he has posted the fastest lap in heat 2 he would be able to recover with ease.

Held over 12 minutes Freddie didn’t hold back at the start. In maximum attack mode he carved his was to 4th in the first lap, then set upon the leaders. In his own air he caught them with ease posting the fastest lap along the way. Gaining the lead with 7 minutes to go he pushed away with fellow competitor Arvid Linblad. Battling on the last lap Freddie managed to out fox Maxwell Dodds beating him over the finish line. It was to be 2nd for Freddie this weekend, but with huge pace in the final his confidence was lifted after a tough day at the ‘office’.
