PFI Club Race – Freddie Slater

On his return from Mallorca for the final time, Freddie headed straight to PFI for a Club Race in preparation for the next few races at the best karting facility in the UK.

With a full grid of Iames, it would be a tough battle for Freddie as all the top drivers were present. Qualifying was difficult; in the short session Freddie and his team weren’t able to get the positioning correct in order to produce the fast lap times. Getting stuck out on his own, Freddie only managed 10th place but knew in the pack he would have pace to progress.

Heat 1 went well as Fred carved his way through the pack to get to get up to 5th place. Heat 2 was even more impressive, as not only posting the fastest lap on the way Freddie climbed to 3rd place and with his strong momentum, if there had of been one more lap would have easily caught the leader.

With strong pace in heat 2 Freddie went into the final confident. Starting 3rd Freddie had a difficult start but managed to chase down the leaders with his teammate Will. Battling for the lead on the last lap contact after the second hairpin destroyed any chance of a win, but Freddie still managed a great podium. A massive step forward in speed means Freddie and his team are confident for next week’s Super One race in North Wales.
