1st Round – Little Green Man (PF International) – Freddie Slater

The first round of the Little Green Man was held at the biggest stage in the UK PFI international in Grantham. The first dry weekend of the year meant the team could work hard in the consistent conditions to achieve the best set up for Freddie in Saturday testing. Chasing the speed of his team mate Taylor Barnard, Freddie was able to nearly match the times towards the end of the practice sessions.

Heat 1 was completed late Saturday and with a lot of pressure Freddie kept cool starting 4th on the grid. Leading for a number of laps Freddie then pushed away with Barnard at the front. Clear of the rest of field Freddie crossed the line 2nd. A very good start to his LGM campaign. The second and third heat were held on the Sunday and starting from near the back in both Freddie achieved 8th and 12th; with fastest sectors in both races. Proving his good decision making he was able to make ground from the more difficult grid spots.

Qualifying 7th for the final Freddie had a tough start. Losing ground and forced into a the slower drivers behind Freddie found himself in battles where his true pace was at the front. Staying focused Freddie recovered to 5th during the 15 minute final. Falling short in the hectic last lap battle Freddie lost 3 places to 8th. Despite the loss of positions Freddie showed amazing speed and consistency to climb back up the positions, and battling with all the more experienced drivers he certainly proved his intentions in this championship for the rest of the year. After the first two big championship races complete Freddie will now spend his time with his family on Easter holidays and will come back with fighting force at the next race in two weeks time.
