Super One at Shenington Club – Freddie Slater

In preparation for the British Championship this coming weekend, Freddie headed to Shenington Kart Club, his local circuit in Banbury. Although this circuit has a simple layout it still required precision driving to produce the fastest laps. Being the English Championship it was a highly competitive weekend held over 3 days. With a full grid of Iame’s Freddie would try his best to perform.

Qualifying went to plan as the team worked together and posted the fastest lap by over a tenth of a second. Freddie missed pole by 2 hundredths of a second, however it gave him a great spot to start the heats on the front row. The first heat saw Freddie have a great start from 2nd and as the front pack broke awake they began to change position continuously throughout the race. After a great battle Freddie came out second over the line. The third heat provided another classic cadet race where again the top ten battled for the whole 8 minute heat. Freddie fought well to cross the line 4th.

Freddie once again started on the front row for the final. As the lead changed continuously over the 10 minute race, Freddie drove a strong race and although on the back foot in the closing stages, managed to come from 4th to 2nd on the last lap with two spectacular overtaking manoeuvres. Although Freddie didn’t get the win he showed his speed and race craft at the Shenington circuit in order for this weekend’s British Championship Race.
