Super One at PFI track – Freddie Slater

Freddie’s excellent form continued into the first round of the British Championship at PF international. Held over 3 days, Freddie and his team had to deal with mixed weather conditions throughout. Practice on Friday went well, luckily staying dry which enabled good testing of the equipment in order to perfect the kart for the time qualifying later that evening.

Attempting to go out at the front of qualifying didn’t go to plan, Freddie made contact with another kart forcing him into a spin. Recovering well Freddie raced through the pack and secured 4th best time even when having to overtake the rest of the field. There were 2 heat races Saturday where Freddie drove well to finish 2nd and 3rd; also achieving fastest lap of the weekend during heat one.

With strong finishes in the heats Freddie lined up 3rd for Final One. Breaking away at the start with Linblad, Freddie lead the way for the majority of the first final. With drizzle in the air both drivers drove clean in difficult conditions. Although he was disappointed Freddie finished 2nd after a strong battle between the two youngsters giving a front row start for Final Two.

As the heavens opened the whole grid opted for wet tyres. The top 4 broke away and had one of the closest races in wet conditions ever. With amazing control all of the top 4 drivers battled it out for 15 minutes. A very clever and calculated last lap gave Freddie the advantage and he took the chequered flag in 1st place.

At only 9 Freddie has completed a perfect start to the season with 4 consecutive wins. He now heads to the Larkhall circuit in Scotland this coming weekend to compete in round 2 of the LGM series.
